About the job

The company was founded in 2020 as a spin-off of a large listed company and is structured as a matrix organization. As Head of Accounting and Business Controlling in the Netherlands, you will have direct responsibility for the Regional Company, Holding entities as well as the Finance Company in the country. Further you are responsible for any Business controlling topics for a global business unit.

Your In-Country Manager will be the Country Finance Director. Additionally, you will be reporting to the Head of Accounting of the Hub North West Europe.

As such, you will be part of both the local finance community in the Netherlands as well as an international network of accounting, reporting and controlling specialists.

Responsibilities

  • Accountable that the financial books and records are maintained in compliance with Corporate Financial Reporting guidelines, IFRS and Local GAAP
  • Prepare the local statutory financial statements and ensuring that all additional statutory reporting requirements are adhered to
  • Drive continuous optimization of organizational setup with focus on synergies, cooperation and output quality for accounting, controlling and reporting
  • Act as a trusted Partner to the Finance Director as well as the local and global stakeholders, focusing on cross-divisional and country-related Finance, Accounting and Controlling matters, providing a framework for all businesses located in and operating from the Netherlands
  • Play a key role together with Divisions, Business Units and/or Functions for regional cost optimization and provide a lean platform of Corporate Functions and the overall infrastructure for all businesses in the entities assigned
  • Enable a high-performance culture of business excellence and continuous improvement, with motivated employees and retention of key staff
  • Oversee the local Accounting and Business controlling functions and managing the local teams
  • Coordinate the monthly closing activities in close cooperation with Hub NWE and Global Business Support functions
  • Ensure that an adequate internal control framework is in place to provide reasonable assurance that the financial statements are true in any material aspect
  • Manage and coordinate external and internal (financial related) audits
  • Proactively drive and further build strong digitalization footprint (e.g. for reporting, dashboards and operational processes) and be part of creating an entity blue-print for the company Europe
  • Plan, coordinate and control periodical Budget and Forecast cycles for business operations as well as business support functions
  • Effectively communicating insights, plans and dashboards to cross-functional team members and management.
  • Responsible for the integrity of books and records, and for an effective Risk Management and Internal Control System in line with the Global framework
  • Being a key member of the NWE accounting community, sharing and learning with/ from your international colleagues and supporting the larger Europe/Africa Meta-Hub organization

The ideal candidate

  • Hands-on mentality with more than 10 years of professional experience, of which at least 3-5 years in leading a Finance or Accounting team in an international organisation
  • BA/BS/Master’s Degree in Business or Accounting/Finance or equivalent professional accreditation
  • A degree in accounting or comparable certification is preferred (e.g., CPA, FCCA, WP)
  • Proven track record in people management, building and motivating strong sustainable and high performing teams
  • Proven experience in change management and transformation of organisational structure and processes
  • Teamworking attitude and the ability to work in a multinational environment
  • Strong stakeholder networking ability and communications skills as well as eager and curious motivation to learn and actively seek feedback impulses from inside and outside the organization
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills; ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from team members and leaders; ability to translate requirements into working solutions
  • Strong networking ability and communications skills as well as eager and curious motivation to learn and actively seek feedback impulses from inside and outside the organization
  • Excellent knowledge of accounting principles, in particular with regards to IFRS. Knowledge of Local/ Dutch GAAP is preferred
  • Passionate and capable to drive digitalization as enabler for transformation
  • Proven knowledge of SAP, Microsoft Excel/Power Point and BI Tools (e.g. Tableau, Power BI or QlikView)
  • Good understanding and knowledge of shareholder controlling topics as well as tax principles is preferred
  • Sound knowledge of M&A Accounting, Finance Accounting and Investment valuation topics
  • Excellent communication skills in English, Dutch highly preferred

Benefits

Base salary of 100-120k depending on experience and educational background
